Abstract
This study aims to obtain data on the effectiveness and practicality of YouTube-based audio visual media in students' listening learning in German in terms of learning outcomes and student responses. This research was an experimental research using pre-experimental design with the form of the design used was one group pre-test post-test group design by dividing two groups into experimental class groups, namely class X IPA 2, totaling 35 students as experimental class 1 and class X IPA 3, amounting to 35 students as the experimental class 2. The sample selection was carried out using purposive sampling technique. The data was collected through a German listening proficiency test. The data were analyzed using t-test analysis. Result showed that in the experimental class 1 the t-count was 8.33> t table 1.998 while in the experimental class 2 the t-count was 9.03> t table 1.998 at the significant level of 0.05 and the results of the student responses showed very positive results, namely amounted to 87.28%. Thus there is a significant difference before and after using YouTube-based audio-visual media in learning to listen to German
